After Leonardo DiCaprio’s breakup with Camila Morrone, everyone makes the same joke

Leonardo DiCaprio and his girlfriend of four years, Camila Morrone, have reportedly broken up.

DiCaprio, 47, and Morrone, 25, were first linked at a New Year’s Eve party in 2018 and made their red carpet debut at the 2020 Academy Awards.

DiCaprio is known for not dating women over the age of 25, despite being over 40. So much so that fans have joked that DiCaprio ended his relationship with Morrone after she turned 25 this year.

Now that the breakup has been announced, people have taken to Twitter to comment on DiCaprio’s “dating phenomenon,” which seems to be repeating itself.

“There is no more reliable phenomenon on this planet than Leonardo DiCaprio breaking up with his girlfriend at 25, the statistics are staggering,” wrote one user.

Another added, “The only certainties in life are death and taxes and Leonardo DiCaprio dating a woman who can’t rent a car.”

A third wrote, “We joke that Leonardo DiCaprio only dates women under 25, but it’s really amazing how firmly he sticks to this rule.”

Another user shared a chart of DiCaprio’s love interests from 1999 (Gisele Bündchen) to the present (Morrone) and shows that the maximum age of these women before breaking up is 25.

“This graph of Leonardo DiCaprio getting older and older and his girlfriends never being older than 25 lives for rent in my head,” the user wrote.

Others questioned DiCaprio’s motives for dating women less than half his age. “Maybe Leonardo DiCaprio hated 9/11 so much that he can’t even date women who remember him. Did it ever occur to you?” said one woman.

Another joked that his next girlfriend might be even younger. “White smoke is rising from the North Hollywood High School chimney, a sign that Leonardo DiCaprio has a new girlfriend.

Others were curious how the breakup came about. “I need to know how Leonardo DiCaprio does these breakups. Does he start fighting months before his 25th birthday to keep a low profile? Do they wake up on their birthday with a note saying, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t, don’t hate me’? Someone please investigate.”
